Our physical education, sport and health program supports your child to experience success. We extend and appropriately challenge every child. We develop each child’s sense of how to work as a group and in a community.

Building confidence through school sport

Our goal is to build your child’s confidence and competence through the development of skills, so that they can participate in a range of physical activities.

Physical Education and Health

Sport is about trying something new and having fun. At Christ Church Grammar School our students have fun and develop friendships through sport.  In our physical education, sport and health program we support your child to develop their skills, knowledge and a strong sense of self. Through our inter-school sport program, our students gain a sense of school spirit, pride and teamwork.

Success for all abilities

Our physical education program creates opportunities for students of all abilities to experience success and be challenged. We offer a sequential program so that our students develop skills in swimming, ball handlings, gymnastics, athletics, and games such as cricket, football, and hockey.

Students in Years 3 - 6 enjoy our House sport competitions including our annual House skipping competition for Prep to year 6 students. House athletics and cross country are held throughout the year, with Years 3 - 6 students competing in both, and early years students competing in athletics.

From Year 4, students are involved in interschool sport competitions against other Coeducational Independent Primary Schools' Sports Association (CIPSSA) schools, the South Yarra District Sports Association (SYDSA) and Victorian Interschool Snowsport. Students in Years 3 - 6 can progress to district, division, regional, and state levels in these competitions. Our Year 5 and 6 students take part in the Winter Lightening premiership for netball, soccer, and football.

School sports for everyone

We offer a swimming program for all children in Prep–Year 6.  Students refine their technique in all strokes and learn valuable survival skills including entries, strokes and general water safety. Our annual Sports Expo Day is for students from ELC to Year 6.  This popular event has something for every student.  Students can try activities like silent disco, hip hop, goal ball, air hockey, inflatable soccer darts, yoga, health classes, and an amazing race.
